Vinayak is the Adult Medical Oncology Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program and a Physician in the Sarcoma Oncology Program at Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute (MGBCI). He is also an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
He is a medical oncologist with expertise in caring for patients with bone and soft tissue sarcoma. He is also a nationally recognized expert and leader in the care of adolescents and young adults (AYAs: people in their late teens, 20s, and 30s) with cancer. Board-certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, he brings comprehensive expertise to supporting their physical, emotional, and socioeconomic needs.
As Adult Medical Oncology director, he works alongside other AYA Cancer Program leaders to ensure every young adult with cancer has access to the best care, research, and outcomes across the largest integrated health system in New England and to create a national model of longitudinal, multidisciplinary AYA care.
Prior to joining MGBCI, he was a Physician in the Sarcoma Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he served as the Director of Sarcoma Pathways and as Affiliated Faculty in the McGraw/Patterson Center for Population Sciences.
Vinayak was born and raised in Rochester, NY, obtained a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, received an MD from Duke University School of Medicine, completed combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School), and completed Medical Oncology fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham & Women's Hospital.
