About Valentina Nardi

Dr. Valentina Nardi received her M.D. from the University of Genoa, Italy, where she also completed fellowship training in hematology and oncology. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Boston Children's Hospital investigating mechanisms of tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance in chronic myeloid leukemia, an experience that sparked her interest in molecular diagnostics and precision medicine.

Dr. Nardi completed residency training in anatomic pathology and fellowship training in hematopathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a Harvard-wide fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology. She is currently Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Associate Director of Hematological Molecular Pathology at Mass General Brigham.

Her clinical and translational research focuses on the development and implementation of molecular diagnostic assays for hematologic malignancies, with particular emphasis on rapid genomic profiling and the detection of therapeutically actionable gene fusions in leukemias and sarcomas. Her work aims to advance precision oncology by identifying genetic drivers that can inform diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted therapy.

An internationally recognized hematopathologist and molecular pathologist, Dr. Nardi serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals and has contributed to major diagnostic and clinical practice guidelines, including those published by the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
