About Taymaa May

Dr. Taymaa May is double board-certified Gynecologic Oncologist and serves as the Director of Ovarian Cancer Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Mass General Brigham, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. She is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School.

Before joining the team in Boston, Dr. May was the clinical lead of the Ovarian Tumor Program and the directors of the ovarian serum Biobank at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network, in Toronto, Canada. During her tenure there, she served as Deputy Head of the Division of Surgical Oncology and was a member of the Princess Margaret Executive Team. Dr. May also held the position of regional Surgical Oncology Lead at Ontario Health within Cancer Care Ontario and was the Chair of the Gynecologic Oncology Group of Ontario, as well as the co-Chair of the Ontario Oncology Association.

Dr. May completed the Harvard Surgical Leadership Program and is board-eligible in Healthcare Administration, Leadership and Management. She has held numerous national leadership roles, including Chair of the Business Unit of the Gynecologic Oncology Society of Canada and Past Chair of the Society’s Annual General Meeting. She has also been a member of the Executive and the Board of Directors of the society.

Dr. May received her medical degree from McGill University in 2004 and completed residency at the University of Toronto in 2010, where she also earned a Master of Science in 2008 as part of the Surgical Scientist Program. She then completed a three-year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, in 2013. Dr. May's research focuses on surgical innovation and optimization of clinical outcomes in patients with advanced ovarian malignancies.
