She listened with presence and truly wanted to know what was going on in my body related to auto-immune disease. Dr. Ritter explained in detail what she was observing during the exam and on my patient portal. She then shared her perspective on what was was likely happening with my bodies responses. Dr. Ritter promptly ordered edition tests she felt would be prudent to do. The very next day after seeing Dr. Ritter at BWH, she messaged me through the patient portal with the results of the blood work she ordered and recommend tons to be followed at this point. I could not be more pleased with now having Dr, . Ritter as my Rheumatologist when needed. [redacted]

Dr. Ritter is respectful and considerate. I feel that she takes my concerns seriously and provides proactive care, where many other providers are dismissive and will not take action until a situation has significantly progressed in severity. My chart says that I am "being monitored for Lupus" although I fortunately do not have a Lupus diagnosis. In my experience, other providers would see this is as a non-issue and get frustrated by my requests for proactive monitoring and preventive care. ("You don't have Lupus. You're fine.") Conversely, Dr. Ritter understands that I'm invested in doing whatever I can to prevent the escalation of my current autoimmune status and she supports me in this effort. The black-and-white approach to diagnosis and care just isn't sufficient for managing complex illnesses that develop systemically over several years. As a health sciences professor and researcher focused on psychoneuroimmunology and multifactorial transmission in complex chronic illness, it gives me hope to see that a provider at a renowned hospital like BWH is willing to zoom out and look at the whole system of risk factors and health indicators to develop a more nuanced view of a patient's case. I'm grateful to have found Dr. Ritter!
