Stuart Howard Hershman, MD

Dr. Hershman set up this Zoom call so that my two older children and I could get information about my upcoming spinal neck surgery. It was very beneficial. My children asked good questions and Dr. Hershman answered everything directly, straightforward, had MRIs to show us, had a model of the neck to show us what would happen. So at the end, I felt completely reassured because I've never had surgery before, so I was a little nervous, that this was the right decision to make and to go ahead with the surgery.

I met this doctor for the first time. I felt he listened to me and explained thoroughly about my condition.

I thought I was to get an analysis of my back mri and the problem disk in my tailbone area. Instead the focus became my left hip and crooked spine. That's ok but I did not feel we were addressing my difficulty walking that started years before any left hip f

He explained very complex degenerative spinal conditions and the proposed treatment therefor with precision and clarity. He proposed a non operative approach where two other spine surgeons had proposed a 12 hour full fusion.

I saw Dr. Hershman. He was amazing. I felt very listened to. He took his time. He was very efficient. He was very good. And I felt comfortable and that he was very knowledgeable and he treated me respectfully. It was all good. He was an amazing doctor.

I waited an hour and a half to see a doctor, Dr. Hirschman. [redacted] when I finally saw him, he rushed in and he had no empathy whatsoever and was very curt with me.

He was attentive, genuine and helpful.

Dr. Hershman was very thorough and explained my situation very clearly. He listened closely to my concerns and did not push me into making a decision.

Everyone on Dr. Hershman's team and Dr. Hershman were tremendous. Everyone in xray and the two men directing were incredible.

There were problems getting the X-rays taken and I was in there for about an hour. I believe it was an equipment issue and not an operator problem

Dr. Hershman is the first physician I have seen with extensive experience and expertise about "significant downward gaze" after a laminectomy. He was very helpful, including showing me a valuable exercise that may offer relief without surgery.

He took the time to explain another condition which is contributing to my pain, which I was unaware of prior to this appointment, which I greatly appreciated.

We were meeting Dr. Hershman for the first time. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and a good listener. We discussed my leg pain (of over 1.5 years), and the pros and cons of different treatment options. Having tried several options with limited results and a continued lessening of quality of life, I have decided to have surgery. That Dr. Hershman did not try to influence my decision - and yet is confident in his ability to help me - is both encouraging and appreciated.

He did an excellent job of explaining the procedure, the laminoplasty that he wants to do on me and explained the different results and consequences of the operation and explained exactly how he would do it. Very informative and easy to talk to and ask questions as well.

He candidly acknowledged that I have certain medical irregularities, but was very straightforward in saying that until there are symptoms we need not take drastic steps. Dr. Hershman was very informative and explained in detail what my surgery will entail.

Dr. Hershman, the Doctor, that I saw was sincerely concerned with my problem. He explained everything that I needed to know and offered many suggestions as to get the needed help to resolve those issues. He was extremely knowledgeable and eased my concerns.

Dr. Hershman thoroughly explained the condition of my bones (osteoporosis) and possible surgery for scoliosis in a way that made clear both the advantages and the severity of the procedure.

The appointment went well, Dr. Hershman was very pleasant. I felt like I was being listened to.

Dr. Hershman had clearly reviewed my record and responses to pre-survey re my symptoms. He ordered new X-rays which he showed and discussed with me which I very much appreciated. He offered a clear recommendation regarding treatment and his reasons for that recommendation. His examination was thorough and not what I had had before. He was warm and respectful and answered all my questions.

Dr. Hershman was extremely knowledgeable about my medical situation and explained what he was planning to do to help me through my medical problems.

Dr. Hershman was excellent in explaining what my condition was and where we can go from here and what surgeries he might suggest. And I thought he was extremely pleasant and very intelligent and very kind. So, that's it. He's great.
