That appt with one provider (not a medical asst and a nurse, then the dr) just seemed so much more efficient and personal - something about not having to explain yourself three times over felt better. And not something I experience anywhere else at MGB. Is there something in this care model that is just better care. I felt in good hands and wondered why my other providers needed such big support. My appt felt less like a machine.

Dr. Hou is very attentive and calming! My blood pressure usually surges when I'm in an exam room but it was 111/77 and I was totally relaxed for the visit! She came up with a plan that I agreed to and will see her in one year.

This care provider is a rarity- through, knowledgable, inquisitive, compassionate and pleasant. She contributes to MA General's reputation of being a hospital with the "highest standards." Lucky me.

Dr Hou is my 3rd Endochronologist since my Graves Disease began in Jan 2024. Unlike the other 2 doctors prior, Dr Hou asked extensive questions relating to the many genetical conditions I have - which is important as they likely are impacting my thyroid wellness to some degree. Additionally Dr Hou was patient in me getting the answers to her about the many changes to my thyroid medication and with all the lab results. Some of what Dr Hou talked about with me have never been discussed with me about treatment options, getting more lab testings, and with a very different approach in mind to thyroid medication changes. It was completely cathartic, as for the 1st time ever I feel safe as I'm in good hands now - which for someone who has PTSD, this is a gift of high magnitude. Finally I can have hope that I can get my thyroid under control. Thank you so much Dr Hou !!

Dr Hou made me feel very at ease. I'm petrified of needles and all went well.

She was very calm, easing my mind and explained everything to me in detail. She used a pen and paper to show me some diagrams which helped me understand the correlations between my condition and the effects of medications. She explained the need for all tests and what the possible results would mean for me. She talked with me about medical history to choose the best beta blocker for me, and listened to how I've been doing on the medication and made changes based on my experience. This doctor made me feel comfortable and listened to all my concerns and explained everything in a way I could understand. The diagrams stuck out to me the most because they really helped me understand everything. I hope more doctors will explain things this way in the future.

I found Dr Hou to be a very caring and extremely knowledgeable physician. She was patient and took the time to make sure she understood my issues and took the time once she had made her examination to make sure I thoroughly understood her prognosis and follow up treatment. She even went above and beyond to personally contact me with the results of my test results once they were available.

She asked questions about what was go on with my health presently then worked her way to passed health conditions. The biggest thing for me was they listened to me. My problems with meds and how it affect my every day living. I feel relieved. I believe I'm on the right road for treatment. Thanks to pharmacy at CVS and the doctors.
