Dr. Garg was clearly very knowledgeable, but very quiet and I would say a bit passive in our conversation. He sized up my symptoms quickly, and it was clear that he wasn't recommending surgery or any other "significant" treatment ... but it was only by asking specific questions that I was able to fully understand his conclusions. Honestly I learned more from reading the pamphlet on the desk about my "trigger finger" condition, prior to his coming into the room ... and I only came away with specific advice on massaging my hand below the base of the finger because I told the doctor what I'd read in that pamphlet and coaxed that suggestion out of him. I'm sure if I ever needed surgery he'd be excellent, I just wish he'd put more effort into educating me. My takeaways were basically (a) nobody quite knows what causes this condition, (b) a splint or massage might help it magically go away, and (c) the whole mechanism of the finger is like a pulley which is why, counter-intuitively, I need to massage below the finger and not on the affected joint. (That last part was in the pamphlet and really helped me understand what's going on.)

While for some reason they were terribly late, 1hour, the OT from the practice stepped in and started the intake and provided valuable information. Great teamwork!

Visit went well, questions answered, not rushed. Considering he was over 30 minutes late, he did not rush and did apologize for being late. Having been a M. A. for 30 years , I understand how doctors can get tied up with difficult cases. [redacted]

I have found my relationship with Dr. Garg to be all I expected &. hoped it would be. There were complications with my own health while planning surgery, after my fall in [redacted]. Dr Garg gave me updated surgical info & more than adequate time to consider my decision whether to go forward with surgery or to try OT/PT instead. Dr Garg also reminded me regularly that the impact of having & healing from the surgery, at this later date, after my broken bones had already mended naturally, would be a challenge physically for me over a prolonged recovery period. [redacted] I am very grateful to Dr. Garg for his caring patience as I came to realize my own best choice, for my life. I am continuing gratefully to work with the MGH PT/OT resources made available to me to learn how to re-build the overall muscle & limb strength I have sadly lost during my aging process, [redacted] A HUGE Thank You to All who are helping me at MGHB! But I asked for a referral to an at home visit by OT & a HHA since I have a fx'd R wrist- a referral for 'home care' was ordered so I was seen by an RN which I really didn't need. The RN had to then get an order for PT, OT & a HHA. It all worked out in the end but I really didn't need a visit by the nurse.
