MaleAbout Richard Joseph Ehrlichman
Richard Ehrlichman, MD completed his undergraduate education at Emory University, receiving a BS with High Honors in Biology and being elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Ehrlichman completed a full general surgery residency training at Brigham and Women's Hospital and his plastic surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital. He achieved board certification in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery.
Following his residencies, he went on to become a staff surgeon in the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. There he was the director of the residency program and head of the melanoma clinic.
Dr. Ehrlichman specializes in plastic surgery of the breast, body and face, especially the eyelids. He has extensive experience in adult and pediatric burn reconstruction and scar treatment with the laser. His practice includes breast reconstruction after mastectomy as well as complex facial reconstruction after removal of skin cancers. In addition, he has extensive experience in cosmetic surgery of the body, breast and face.
Dr. Ehrlichman is on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children Boston, and Southern New Hampshire Medical Center where he works in conjunction with other MGH surgeons. He is an Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School
Dr. Ehrlichman is a member of multiple medical and surgical societies and is active in many national committees. Presently, he serves as president of the Boston Surgical Society. He has participated in multiple international global outreach missions to South America.
Dr. Ehrlichman is a Colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps and is the Senior State Physician for the Massachusetts National Guard. He is also the flight surgeon for the 3/126 Aviation Battalion of Massachusetts. He has deployed to Afghanistan as well as the Balkans.
Dr. Ehrlichman has given research and clinical presentations at national and international plastic surgery meetings. His present research interest involves the use of the laser in helping to heal chronic nonhealing wounds.

The np shared a LOT of information and it was very overwhelming. I expect we will get information about post op after surgery too, but it wss a lot to digest and remember 3 weeks before surgery. She was lovely and compassionate and answered all of our questions too. You could tell she is good at and loves her job.

The doctor was good but my problem was not solved. This physician does not offer service to fix surgical incision scarring under the skin or deep soft tissue scarring. Hopefully they will add it to the arsenal of tools some day.
