Raja-Elie E Abdulnour, MD

After medical school, Dr. Abdulnour completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Harvard Combined Program. He is currently a faculty member in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Abdulnour’s clinical interests include acute lung injury, pneumonia, ARDS, lung toxicity from drugs, asthma, respiratory failure, critical illness, sepsis, lung cancer, and pulmonary complications from cancer.

He takes care of patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and sees patient in the Thoracic Oncology Program clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Abdulnour conducts research to improve our understanding of how inflammation is resolved. Inflammation is the body’s response to injury. Although essential, it will cause collateral damage and affect lung function if left unchecked. His research is centered on molecules and pathways that ensure the proper return to normal organ function. These molecules will hopefully lead to new therapies.
