About Phillip D Michaels

Dr. Phillip Michaels is a hematopathologist and molecular genetic pathologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center while completing his molecular genetic pathology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is the medical director of the CAMD Translational Biomarker Core at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has published in the areas of hematopathology and molecular hematopathology with his research interests primarily residing in structural variant analysis in hematolymphoid neoplasms, applications of immunomarkers for disease assessment, and exploring new technologies for diagnostics in hematologic malignancies. Lastly, he is an active educator that is involved in medical student and resident teaching in hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology on the local and national level.
