Dr. Raykar is an associate surgeon in the Division of Trauma, Burn and Surgical Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Cr+LfDr. Raykar completed his general surgery residency at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he served as chief resident for Education. He completed a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where he served as chief fellow from 2015-2016, and a trauma, critical care, acute care and global health surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Rutgers University and his MPH from Harvard University.
Cr+LfDr. Raykar’s research interests lie at the intersection of global public health and surgery, particularly on issues of blood transfusion and trauma systems in low-resource settings. He was a lead author for the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery and led the commission’s initial implementation efforts. He serves as fellowship director for the Harvard Medical School Program in Global Surgery and Social Change and is a faculty member of the Brigham and Women’s Center for Surgery and Public Health.
