Dr, Issa is an awesome doctor! But he is an unbelievable human being. This world needs more like him! Warmest, [redacted]

Dr Issa is a treasure, no two ways about it. I've been under the care of pain clinics most of my life and he's everything they should have been and more. He provides real, effective, and compassionate care based on real science and listening to his patient, rather than anti-science hysteria based in bias. He has a way of gently asking me whether I'm allowing myself to take my meds when I need them and reassuring me that he wouldn't prescribe them if he didn't want me to actually use them. And he understands the trauma around that subject for long term patients like me- the only other people I've encountered who actually understand that are other chronic pain patients. His combined training in both pain medicine and addiction psychiatry should be the standard for all pain specialists. To say Dr Issa has saved my life is not an exaggeration.

My medical condition is complex. I felt that Dr. Issa truly listened to me (symptoms, treatments that worked or did not, etc) in an open-minded unhurried manner, incorporating my experience into a big picture view of the clinical problem. He clearly communicated the clinical problem in terms I could understand. He offered treatment options that I was not previously aware of. I am pursuing both options and for the first time in over a year I feel optimistic. In addition, I appreciate the pacing of the dialog with Dr. Issa. It is an experience I've not had for some time.

It's a huge relief to have a medical professional know my genetic condition and the issues that come with it. It's very hard to find doctors who do understand and that makes getting the right care not only difficult but draining, when they don't understand and then don't take the time to understand.

Very glad he's properly educated and knowledgeable about complex rare health conditions and listens vs gaslighting

  • Reviewed on 5/13/2025

Dr Issa is the best. I've been under the care of pain specialists most of my life and he is unlike anyone else I've ever encountered. He provides compassionate, honest, no-nonsense care. He treats me as a partner in my care and has got to know my needs and ways of thinking about things over the years in the way a trusted friend does- and I absolutely consider him to be one. One thing I especially like and respect about him is that he is honest and realistic about my case. My condition is serious, and deterioration over time is inevitable. I can always rely on him to treat that as a simple fact rather than push toxic positivity or false hopes for improvement on me. We acknowledge that I will never NOT be in pain, and the benchmark we use instead is whether I'm satisfied with the relief I'm getting and whether my pain is controlled enough that I can do the things I need and want to do with reasonable accommodation. He doesn't treat my remaining pain as a failure the way other doctors have. We're always looking for new ideas, but there's no pressure to fix what isn't broken. If none of this sounds radical- it isn't. But it is radically different from any other doctor I've seen, and I've seen a lot.

  • Reviewed on 4/23/2025

For the first time in 3 years, I finally have some hope that I can get a treatment for my pain. Dr. Issa is willing to think outside the box and provided options that other providers had not.
