Dr. Mohamed Keshk is a cardiothoracic surgeon with a sub-specialty focus on the management of end-stage heart and lung disease here at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Keshk is a native of Egypt. He received his medical degree and residency training from Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine in Egypt. He later completed advanced fellowship training at: Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, and Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on mechanical circulatory support, ex-vivo heart and lung perfusion, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and heart and lung transplantation.
Dr. Keshk has also taken an active role in using temporary ventricular assist devices and ECMO to bridge patients through heart and lung transplant evaluation into candidacy and onto surgery, and to bridge critically ill patients to recovery from COVID-19, making BWH among some of the first institutions to do so successfully.
As an administrator, Dr. Keshk actively participates in quality assessment for both Heart and Lung Transplantation and ECMO. As a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, he emphasizes the education of medical students and residents.
Dr. Keshk is actively committed to serving his patients and strives to ensure that his patients become an integral part of his own care. He is committed to providing the most advanced surgical care by training a team of multidisciplinary experts for each patient.
