Yes, Dr. Leo Kim has been my eye doctor specialist for, it must be probably about over five years. And, you know, there's nobody better than Dr. Leo Kim. I mean, his knowledge, his experience is, you know, you could tell, you could tell the way when he explains things to you, when he talks to you about, you know, my condition, always willing to talk to me, you know, takes his time. If I have questions, you know, he's always answering questions. And, you know, this is why I like going to, this is why I see him all the time. I wouldn't change him for anybody else. Like I said, I mean, he's just, you know, his knowledge, he knows a lot about his profession. And I feel very comfortable. And I would definitely recommend anybody to Dr. Leo Kim. I think, you know, I'm in good hands with Dr. Leo Kim. He's one of the best.

I think Dr. Kim is an extremely competent doctor. His communication style is rather brusque, but 1) this is pretty common among surgeons, unfortunately, and 2) he has commented to me before about how extremely packed his schedule is, so I imagine he is stressed and pressed for time during his patient visits, which might explain the brusqueness.

I wore an elastomeric respirator (like, the kind you'd use when sanding) to this visit, and when the surgeon walked in -- wearing his own mask! -- he gestured to mine and said "what's with the contraption?". I wear a mask in medical settings to try to keep myself and my fellow patients from getting sick. I choose an elastomeric mask because it fits better and fogs up my glasses less. I don't like having these choices judged by providers. I recognize we're all in a different place with masking, and I recognize that it can be exhausting to wear a well-fitted respirator all day, and I'm not asking your staff to do that -- I'm just asking them to let me wear a mask that works for me without making judgey comments about it.

MD didn't seem to understand or care to understand why I was referred by a retina specialist for a 2nd opinion. He never discussed the visual field defects with me. He did discuss doing OCT testing after a follow up appt in 6 months. [redacted]

Dr. Kim seems very knowledgeable but his "bedside manner" is rushed and a little rough around the edges. He remarks about the same interesting (relevant) things in my medical history every time I see him, even noting this most recent time "I'm sure people have said this to you before, I've probably said this to you before." When it's something related to the retinal surgeries that I've had at MEE, it shouldn't be a surprise to him every time he looks at my chart. Or at least have the re-surprise while reviewing my chart in your office prior to coming in the room to see me, so when you walk in the room I feel like you are informed about my history and what you need to look for during my visit. So, the care that I received in my first at this practice with Dr. Kim was, even though it's a large teaching hospital, it was extremely personalized. Dr Kim addressed the retina detachment in my right eye several years ago, has followed up with another matter just a year ago. Me appointments with him are always marked by heightened professionalism, an extraordinary knowledge base and genuine empathy.

I want to say that Dr. Leo Kim is an amazing doctor. Not only is he brilliant, but he has a very, very good bedside manner, if you will. He's very kind. He speaks in language that many people, you know, can clearly understand. He's very patient after he explains something on a multiple basis, but after each explanation, he asks, do you have any questions, any concerns? And he's very truthful and trustworthy. And I just don't have enough praise that I can say in words. I am very, very happy with Dr. Leo Kim.
