About Kit Chan

Dr. Chan practices adult primary care and is also the Chief of the Internal Medicine department at HVMA, Kenmore. His clinical interests include chronic disease management, outpatient office procedures, and public health policy. Dr. Chan feels fortunate to have had opportunities to study abroad in many foreign countries including Bolivia, Spain, Nepal, China, and several European countries. As a result, he has gained a deep appreciation for diversity and thoroughly enjoy treating patients with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Chan's panel of patients is a relatively balanced mix of males and females and different age and racial demographics. Because of Kenmore’s proximity to the colleges, his panel has many college age patients and young professionals. He also has a portion of Spanish and Chinese speaking patients in his panel.

Dr. Chan is originally from Southern California where he graduated from UCLA Medical School. He did his residency at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. After working as a full time primary care physician for 5 years, Dr. Chan came to Boston in 2008 to pursue an MPH degree in healthcare policy and management from the Harvard School of Public Health. In 2009, he joined HVMA to serve as the Chief of Internal Medicine at HVMA, Kenmore.

Dr. Chan enjoys teaching medical students and residents because he believes in the importance of educating the next generation of physicians. Through interactions with students and residents, Dr. Chan believes that I grow to become a better physician. In addition to passing on clinical knowledge, I strive to raise awareness about the importance of developing administrative and management skills as well as an understanding of public health issues.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, swimming, and playing volleyball and basketball.

Even though the reason I went in still remains a mystery, I am happy with my appointment. I got in quickly after I spoke with a nurse about my symptoms. The provider I saw was thorough and understanding. He tried to offer me different courses of action I could take. I appreciated his thoroughness. He even asked if I had all my questions answered, or if he needed to go over something with me again. He gave me a peace of mind and ruled out the couple things I was concerned it could be, and explained what he found and why those would not apply.

Jen Center responded to an urgent need communicated via the gateway with a phone call in a timely manner. She scheduled a physician who was available for the urgent care visit as the regular PCP was all booked. I appreciated this.

Dr.Chan what's excellent - he listened carefully. He asked good questions and looked at my chest x-ray taken at the hospital in Maine, determined it wasn't a particularly good quality and ordered another x-ray was showed. I had no lol pneumonia. He was careful, understood the complexity of my situation..
