There are no words to describe Dr. Hein's professionalism, kindness, caring and brilliance. Until recently when my MGH PCP left the practice after being my PCP for 20 years, I was adrift trying to find medical help to replace her. Her last recommendation to me was to Dr. John Hein. After months of trying to find another PCP, I called Dr. Hein's office with severe breathing concerns. He saw me the next day (WOW!). He sat and spent a long time discussing my history and current illness, he listened carefully and thoughtfully to my history. He then ordered several tests to be completed at AJH. While awaiting the results he gave me meds which were perfect. A few months later, I relapsed and he saw me the next day. Again, he spent a great deal of time with me explaining my pneumonia and recurring asthma situation so that I would mentally be prepared to make a full recovery. One week later, I am experiencing healing and recovery. Prior to this I had spent months seeing different doctors and the ER to no end. Dr. Hein is one in a million and I am so glad I found him. I am feeling so much better now and understand my diagnosis well. I am also comforted by the fact that he is able and willing to see me quickly when I am sick. Now I just need another PCP in the MGH system again.

I was extremely impressed with Dr. Hein. I went in unsure how the visit would go since I was transferring care from a different allergist center, but he was absolutely wonderful. He listened to all my concerns and took the time to explain everything clearly. He even asked me to repeat something back to him to make sure I understood - something doctors rarely do anymore. He also went above and beyond by providing helpful information related to future allergy concerns outside the immediate reason for my visit. I was genuinely impressed and felt cared for from start to finish. He is one of the best doctors I've seen in a long time because he: Listens Explains Takes time Clearly understands his specialty I'm very, very happy that I transferred my care to him.

I learned some very important information.

Doctor entered the room and immediately asked "what can i do for you", before he even sat down. no hello, no getting comfortable, immediately thrown off by essentially being asked why we're here. Conversation could easily have been a phone call, he barely acknowledged my son (patient). Felt like i had to keep asking questions to pull information out about process and thinking around the treatment plan for my son rather than being talked through a scary process to be experiencing. And the doctor paid close attention to what I told him. He addressed all my concerns, answered all my questions, and helped me get a quick referral. He was very efficient.

I could not be happier or more impressed with the care I receive from Dr. Hein. He was recommended to me by a friend who commented that whenever she goes to him, she always learns something. I have found that to be true. He is a brilliant allergist; and more importantly, he takes the time to listen and instruct so that you can be an informed partner in your own care. He is just the best!

When you enter a room with a patient, you should introduce yourself before requesting why the patient is there. When a patient discusses precious treatment methods or testing, you should not judge or criticize. You should not compare one patient to another. My experience is my own.

I have been with dr Hein since he began at Nantucket medical Associates. I think he has helped me more than any other doctor.

It would be nice to perform the skin allergy test right away in the office since it's only 20 minutes vs. having to come back a month later.

After 20+ years of suffering of no-diagnosis provided from a few of the most highly respected physicians who studied my excruciating symptoms, Dr Hein is the only physician who provided a logical diagnosis. I will be forever grateful for that.

The doctor took into consideration the burden the high cost of the last prescription had on me and tried to find an affordable alternative.

I voiced concerns about one of my medications not working as well and after my visit, Dr Hein called me to say that he went over my history with this medicine and discovered I should be using it 2 times a day.

First doctor to explain to me what was going on with my symptoms. Finally got some answers.
