Very Strong Experience...Excellent Judgment.

From the first time I had an appointment with Dr, Tiao she has been professional, pleasant and obviously knowledgeable. She addresses all concerns. I feel I am fortunate to have her as my dermatologist.

She was dismissive and did not take the time to understand my condition. Prescribed 4 creams but did not explain why or how to use them. The entire visit was less than 10 minutes. [redacted]

My primary care doctor recommended that I see a dermatologist. I waited 14 months for this appointment. I felt the doctor rushed the appointment. She brushed off all my concerns.

Always get great care with Dr Tiao

She was very perfunctory. She determined that I was there for a general skin check and almost seemed a bit annoyed by that fact....and was quick to point out that I didn't need to return for 2 years at least. [redacted]

She was very efficient, looked at my body, checked everything, and I was finished within probably 10 or 12 minutes.

Provider was mostly fine. I had spoken to a medical assistant about getting a partial skin check on my back and was instructed to put on a gown. Dr. Tiao came in and talked to me about my acne which was the main point of the visit but completely ignored that I was wearing the gown and was going to end the visit without addressing the skin check. When I asked about it she responded "we're not doing that today." I could understand if there wasn't enough time but her extremely dismissive tone and demeanor was so odd and made me feel very uncomfortable. Not sure why she couldn't explain the circumstances and speak to me with respect. She finally agreed to "take a look" and checked out my back for maybe 2 seconds and said everything looks good and promptly left the room. Overall it was a bit of a bizarre social interaction.

Dr. Janice T. is an awesome Dermatologist answering my questions. Right now though I'm waiting for a prescription that needs a PA so I'm hoping Dr. Janice T. can follow up with that for me.

She knew nothing about my history, spent less then 3 mins with me

I waited over a year for this appointment that lasted about 5 minutes. I went into this appointment with multiple concerns however because they weren't skin cancer related I felt as though they were completely dismissed. [redacted]

[redacted] While she is knowledgeable, her bedside manner is poor. What some may seem to describe as "efficiency", my visit felt dismissive and rushed. Given that patients often wait months for an appointment, it was frustrating to spend less than five minutes with the provider without her even examining my skin. When I asked why she did not look at my skin, she responded that medical evidence does not require a visual examination for appropriate care. This explanation did not feel patient-centered or reassuring.

It seemed to me the exam was very quick. I feel it took longer to take my clothes off than the exam. Provider did ask about any concerns and did look at them. Very fast exam!

It was my first experience with a skin cancer check. It was quick, easy, and comfortable.

She's excellent. Not a provider you (MGB) would want to lose. I hope she has a very reasonable schedule and is well paid. I feel lucky to have found her after having lost my prior MGH physician.

She didn't review my past medical history, and her evaluation during the skin test felt extremely rushed and incomplete. I left feeling dismissed, as if she couldn't wait to get out of the room. I am disappointed with Dr Tiaos bedside manner. I felt as though I was an annoyance to her and she dismissed my concerns. I am an educated health care provider and I have never been treated so poorly. [redacted]

I'm very disappointed in my experience. I booked a new patient appointment over 10+ months ago and have been eagerly awaiting it, as I have severe anxiety around doctors. I spent less than 15 minutes in the actual building and less than 5 minutes with the doctor for a new patient appointment that I'd waited for so long to have. She didn't ask about my medical history, my medications, previous dermatologist visits or procedures, etc. I haven't seen a dermatologist in 4 years, my mother + many relatives have had skin cancer, and I'm very at-risk to developing skin issues; all of this information didn't seem to influence how interested Dr. Janice was in me as a patient. I felt that I didn't matter to her and I currently feel like I need to see another doctor to properly review my body + file to count as an annual exam.

This is a new provider. [redacted] she failed to make eye contact. It seemed like she wasn't too much concerned about what I had to say. She just didn't, you know, we didn't really connect far as, you know, patient and doctor. So I just felt that she really didn't care. And I like to deal with doctors who, you know, care about their patients and make eye contact, allow them to talk, answer any questions. I try to ask her a question.

Treated as if my concerns were not valid. Brushed off. Seemed like she was in a rush to finish the appointment. The whole appointment lasted probably 3 minutes and did not even try to communicate with my son, who was the individual who had the appointment.

Dr Tiao was very professional she explained what she was looking for and told me everything was good. She also noticed that my hands and legs were dry so she advised me to get a moisturizer .

This provider made me feel stupid for booking an appointment for a dermatologist body scan when I haven't had one in 5 years. She was rude when I asked questions and was not helpful in explaining what I should look for in moles or how I can improve acne. It was incredibly rushed, she snapped when I asked a question, and she wrote me prescriptions I don't even know what for then rushed out of the room. I have no idea if they are safe while I'm breastfeeding because I didn't have time to ask and she didn't proactively mention [redacted] She said I don't have to come back if there is no family history of skin cancer even though I went tanning weekly in high school and want to stay ahead of any risks. I felt uncomfortable and she truly made me feel stupid even though I am a very competent well educated woman.

She is extremely thorough with her exams, and is very kind and has great bedside manner! I have always felt heard and seen with any suspicious moles (i have over 50 moles) she biopsy's them to make sure they're not skin cancer and makes my mind at ease. She is the best dermatologist I've ever had very intelligent and great listener highly recommend.

I read my care notes and things written were not said - for instance i said "I workED" in healthcare PREVIOUSLY not "I work in healthcare " I also was recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis on top of my osteoarthritis and my rheumatologist based this on blood test he ran - no biopsy on foot - she said it's a fungus - and when i shared what rheumatologist said, she said i'm not going to have you challenge me!!!!! I was taken back by such unprofessionalism by a doctor. [redacted]

Dr.Tiao listened to my concerns and offered her advise. She took car of one pre-cancerous growth expertly.

Dr. Tiao was caught up on any procedures I had previously undergone. Reassured me that enough time had passed since procedure to indicate that there was no cause for concern.

This was our first time meeting this provider as all the other dermatologists that we've met prior, have left. The provider didn't know my child's background and was giving me a hard time with the medical ointments and their uses. NOTE: these were prescribed a year ago, and I am not a medical professional. Furthermore, the list of ointments and medications were no longer listed in his patient gateway profile.

Visit delayed 3 weeks due to her illness. No one reached out to offer prescription refill to span the time.

I wasn't sure how to answer the question about how the nurses were speaking to the doctors. I wasn't in any major acute scenario where I would have known that answer, but I would assume there was healthy enough communication there. Otherwise, I don't remember whether the nurse asked me about my prescriptions. She very well may have. That's all. Excellent service, direct, assertive, informative, courteous, kind. Dr. Tiao was very patient, very caring, very knowledgeable about my case, answered all of my questions, was kind and supportive because I was scared to have a melanoma. She's been really reassuring and I really appreciate it.

I was taken as soon as I arrived..everyone was friendly.....Nurse..&Dr. Tiao performed ED& C...& I was able to be on my way home....even before my appointment...it was excellent care.....:)

Very pleased with the doctor and VERY pleased with the nurse. She was EXCELLENT. I was alone with my handicapped daughter and this nurse OVER EXTENDED herself in trying to help me.

I had an appointment with dermatologist Janice Tao, and while she listened to my concerns, I felt like my opinions didn't really matter. I mentioned that the creams and ointments I had tried weren't effective for me, but she seemed set in her views and didn't seem to take my experiences into account. It felt like she was saying, "I'm the expert, so I know best," rather than working together with me. [redacted] Overall, I left the appointment feeling misunderstood and overlooked. [redacted] I ended up feeling like my concerns weren't really being listened to, and the interaction and visit felt very contentious and pointless.

She was not my usual provider for dermatology. I was concerned about a cariotosis? On my back. [redacted] I felt she had no time for me she told me the growth was fine and didn't need treatment in a curt manner. I felt I was inconveniencing her. She didn't make eye contact.

The provider is always courteous, extremely nice and accommodating because I am blind. She goes out of her way to explain what is going on and how best I should continue my care.

I was grateful for the thoughtful care and attention Dr Tiao gave to my concerns before the procedure. However, the treatment itself being so startling, I did not recover sufficiently to ask any after- care questions and so left stunned, and not clear on anything specific that might be recommended. I therefore was sorry not to receive a print- out of follow-up information or after-care and do not recall being offered any. A print-out works best for me. I did think that the provision of chaperone service was a good addition, just for support.

This provider was not my regular dermatologist so I understand she would not know me as well. However, she did not seem to read my record before seeing me, and while she answered my questions, she was not encouraging discussion or forthcoming with information that might be helpful. Her demeanor was somewhat dismissive.

Very attentive and thorough

This is the first time I have ever left a poor review for a physician. While this provider was soft-spoken, her demeanor felt aloof and dismissive. I have curly hair and, over the past year, have been experiencing significant hair loss. Although it may appear that I still have a full head of hair, I know my hair and can recognize when I am losing more than usual. She recommended Rogaine, which other doctors have suggested before. However, given my hair type and the amount I would need to use, the cost would be too high for me. When I explained this, she looked at me as though I had said something absurd, then searched Amazon for a six-month supply of generic minoxidil and broke down the cost using only the information on the label, which, in my experience, is not always accurate. I felt so ashamed I had brought up finances. Yet, I felt even more dismissed when we talked about my migraine medications, in particular, triptans, which I take for migraine attacks. She suggested I stop taking it to see if my hair improved, then made a passive comment that "some people's migraines are really horrible," while speaking to someone who has lived with migraines her entire life and is finally grateful to have found relief with her current treatment. While I understand neurology is not her specialty, I would have appreciated being asked directly about my experiences. Overall, I left the visit feeling unheard, uncomfortable, and dismissed. My 15-minute appointment ended after only 8 minutes, and I walked away feeling embarrassed and dissatisfied with the care I received.

It was clear that she had not looked at my prior history in the practice or my recent messaging with the nurse about this particular flare-up. She did not explain anything about the condition, what might be causing it (other than to dismiss my thoughts about what might be causing it), or about what to expect from the course of treatment. I left with vague instructions on what to do/expect next.

Saw doctor on time and appointment was timely. Dr. Tiao explained every procedure she was going to do and was very thorough examining my skin.

I felt completely disregarded by Dr. Tiao during my appointment. I had an active flare up on my face and swollen shut eye at the time of this appointment. Dr. Tiao remained sitting at the computer during the entirety of our visit and gave me no formal exam. When asked about treatment options she suggested I continue using a prescription that was giving me severe discomfort or to buy products from CVS. When I asked about anything concerns other than my active flareup she said I'd have to make another appointment to discuss or do anything else. Maybe it was my mistake to think a skin check or basic exam was standard for a new patient appointment, but it still felt like she didn't care to actually treat me and just wanted to be done with me. She was unfriendly and unaccommodating and the visit that I waited 7 months for lasted for less than 10 minutes. I left visibly upset [redacted]

The doctor was pleasant enough. However, she was very brief in the time that she spent with me. It was a yearly skin checkup. She spent maybe 10 minutes with me at the most. I had two issues. One of them was about my recent procedure for removing a squamous cell carcinoma off of my face. I pointed out another area on my face that I was concerned about. and she said it was just rough skin and not to worry about it. She didn't offer to, you know, freeze it off or, you know, she didn't seem concerned about it at all, even though I had a history. [redacted] Number two, I had pain in the sole of my foot. And I know I thought I had a foreign object in there for many months. I wanted her to look at it.

Dr was cold in her delivery and showed a lack of interest in what was important to me.

Janice Tiao was ahead of time. She was very thorough, asked all her questions to see if I had any issues, and then applied various treatments to some obvious sore spots, and everything worked very well. Thank you.

I would have liked the dermatologist to have taken a little more time to examine my skin, to examine my scalp, and not just give me a diagnosis based on what I told her. I understand that she can give me a diagnosis in this way, but I would have felt much more confident in the diagnosis she is giving me if she had at least taken the time to examine my skin properly, (UNREADABLE)

I think Dr. Tiao might be an excellent clinician but she came across as being very aloof. No warmth in her demeanor.

She was condescending and rude. She rushed me. She didn't want to hear from me. She didn't want to explain the meaning behind medical mode of action. She said that wasn't important for me. I was a first-time patient with her, but she did nothing to establish patient care with me. [redacted] She made me feel looked down upon and unheard.

I have significant chronic illness ([redacted]) yet the doctor acted like she was annoyed that I made an appointment with her. She was uninterested in me as a patient, didn't make an effort to get to know me, and I felt really "stupid" for wasting her time. [redacted]

I felt as if while I was waiting in the office, things were calm, and then I went into the actual office itself, and then it immediately, it felt like things were going very fast. I felt like I had to have all the information available to me, which I can't have all the information all at once because I have a lot on my mind, and it's hard to remember a lot of these things, especially with all these complex names too, and the details therein, along with everything else that I had to deal with during the day. It felt like a lot that I had to remember all at once, and I kept on feeling like I was supposed to know absolutely everything, regardless of if it's been a while or if I made mistakes.

I was impressed when I mentioned it had been [redacted] years since my skin cancer removal and Dr. Tiao immediately checked a Record indicating it had been [redacted] years. Only one year, but very impressed that she was so on top of things.

Provider was fine, maybe a bit rushed . The exam was fast!

I just wish we could have spoke a little more. I had a brown type mole on my face and I was concerned. She said she's doing a biopsy (right now).she thinks it's a type of cancer, but I shouldn't worry. Not worry..the word cancer makes me worry!! She did the bio..gave me care tips and said I'll call you in 5 days with the results. She never really had a conversation with me...so I felt she was kind of rushing. She was quick but relatively polite. I just feel like it was all rushed.

It took me over a year to get this appointment. I explained to the provider that it was my first time in dermatology and that I was extremely nervous. Both of my parents have skin cancer and I have very pale skin with freckles. Provider was extremely dismissive and unhelpful with any questions that I have. Disclose that they could not help me with simple skin care questions and that is all for cosmetic dermatology. [redacted] I simply wanted to know about Bumps on my skin, red spots, if my basic skin care routine was up to par, etc. Provider told me they can only help me with SPF type of assistance. The entire interaction was extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant. [redacted] It was a very disappointing experience overall.
