Irene Gonsalvez, MD, joined the Brigham and Women’s Psychiatry Department in 2020 after graduating Psychiatry Residency at St Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston. She received her medical degree from Universidad Miguel Hernandez, Spain. After she was awarded with a Clinical Research grant from "La Obra Social La Caixa” in 2012; she joined the Berenson-Allen Center at Beth Israel Medical Center, where she spent 3.5 years participating in different research projects involving non-invasive brain stimulation in Alzheimer's Disease and Schizophrenia. She has always been interested in neuroscience and brain gender differences, focusing her clinical practice in neuropsychiatry and women’s mental health. She plans to continue her clinical research career while offering best quality of care to her patients. The support she receives from her colleagues and mentors, along with the multiple opportunities for collaboration, interdisciplinary care and professional development are some of the things she enjoys the most being part of the BWH’s community.
