About Gerardo Gonzalez-Haddad

Gerardo Gonzalez-Haddad, MD, is the medical director of McLean’s Addiction Treatment Center at Naukeag and an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He has more than 20 years of experience in clinical services, research, and teaching in addiction psychiatry. Dr. Gonzalez-Haddad is originally from Colombia and after receiving his medical degree, he trained in psychiatry in Bogotá, Colombia and obtained a diploma degree in addiction behavior (DAB) from the University of London. He completed his second residency in psychiatry in the U.S., followed by a fellowship in substance misuse at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Gonzalez-Haddad was recruited to join McLean in 2022 from the University of Massachusetts T. H. Chan Medical School. His clinical and research expertise are in treatment of co-occurring addiction disorders, development of medication treatment options for substance use disorders, evaluation of psychosocial interventions for patients with opioid use disorders, and, more recently, developing a treatment improvement protocol to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C in early addiction recovery.
