About Gary P Ho

Gary Ho, MD, PhD, is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty expertise in Movement Disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease, tremor, Lewy Body Dementia, atypical parkinsonian syndromes, ataxia, dystonia, and other related conditions. Dr. Ho received his undergraduate degree from Harvard and his MD and PhD degrees from Johns Hopkins. He completed his general neurology residency and movement disorders fellowship at the Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital program.

Dr. Ho’s research uses patient-derived neurons and mouse models to investigate the potential of modifying proteins by fatty acids (palmitoylation) to prevent the accumulation of alpha-synuclein, a protein closely associated with Parkinson’s and other related neurodegenerative diseases. His research is funded by the NIH-National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the American Parkinson Disease Association. Dr. Ho is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School.

    I had a much better feeling with Gary Ho this time than I have in the past. I think he became much more responsive to my needs, and I really appreciated that. And I find him far more professional, I would say, than I have sometimes in the past when he was rather cold. So I guess that's it.

    Hi, I thought Dr. Ho was very thorough and we conversed in regard to my condition and he took new information which I had given him from my sister who was a retired RN into the equation on his analysis of my condition. So it was very, very fruitful.

    The overall experience was excellent, and Dr. Ho was respectful. The only issue that I had was the lengthy time between appointments -- 6 months. That seems a bit too long and I would like to have the option of a visit every three to five months.
