First visit with new dermatologist,Dr Xia. She was excellent clinician who did a very thorough skin exam and then did destruction of keratosis with cryotherapy and also did biopsy of lesion. Explained everything and was very professional. Would recommend her to others.

The provider was in the middle of leaving the room multiple times and I felt like I was inconveniencing them for being there or having anything to say. I am a health care provider at MGH myself and understand that patients can sometimes take time with "irrelevant" questions, but my goal for this visit was to have some key questions answered for myself. The provider was too short. She simply did the standard/routine check up and in less than 5 minutes she was out of the room. She didn't ask any questions.

There wasn't a whole lot of conversation about anything. I was examined, and that was it. It's nice to have a small conversation [redacted] building in a couple of sentences so that the patient (me) doesn't feel like cattle on a farm or at the Deli counter. No suggestions or anything around skin care. See you in one year, she said.

The appointment was a general yearly skin check. Dr. Xia completed in a short amount of time and all was well.

I think it was a very like, like I had a question about hair loss and she said like one thing, but you know, Google search, you know, there's tons of things, right? When I initially made the appointment it was my concern with the acne I was experiencing on my face. [redacted] The doctor performed a full body exam, which I was okay with, froze some papules on my scalp and prescribed some medication for my rosacea. I had taken a photo of the serums/lotions I apply on my face and as she was walking out of the room she told me not to apply one lotion. Then she left. I was never able to discuss the recurring acne.

The provider seems to be in rush, the time of the visit was so quick, I felt I had to end the visit quickly because of the way I was treated, then I asked her if it is possible to address questions through patient website, she refused and said what is the questions I answer now!

[redacted] three of us, myself and my two children, had appointments with this doctor. She gave us no more than two minutes tops - didn't ask us any questions and wasn't personable at all. She was nice enough to answer my questions, but she just rushed in and out without giving us the time of day. [redacted] for her to just brush us off so quickly, I don't have faith that she actually did look over my entire body, as well as my moles to give me peace of mind that she didn't miss anything.

My husband and I had back to back appointments and she had read my husband's medical history before seeing him. She was thorough and knowledgeable.

This was one of the best experiences I had with MGBI. Both the nurse and Dr NOT just listened, but acted accordingly. I need extra novicaine for procedures. There was no back and forth, nothing. They listen and gave me extra novicaine. Imagine this? Such a small thing as a huge thing? They were both very thorough, detailed explaining the process and respectful.

I've been a patient of Dr. Shah for several years now. [redacted] However, I've noticed over the last, especially the last year, that my appointments have become very rushed. It feels like there's not an opportunity for me to express the concerns I have during the appointment and time isn't taken to explain to me what is going on with my medical health, and I'm finding that rather frustrating because my needs aren't being met. I come in with questions and a problem that I'd like to resolve, and I don't really get answers, and I also don't really get progress on that resolution, but there's no clarity as to why we could not have pursued treating certain things. It just feels very rushed, and the doctor is always needing to go to the next appointment, [redacted]

I have had numerous dermatologists at MGB and I find Dr. Xia to be the most thorough- I have a lot of concerns about my skin due to sun damage, and I appreciate her thorough exams.

So it was really weird because I came in due to experiencing hair loss and she looked through my hair, did hear what prescriptions I was on, didn't order any kind of blood work, didn't suggest to check my thyroid, said that it was stress and she diagnosed me with teflon, ethylene, I can't say it. And then she referred me to a different hair dermatologist in Burlington, Massachusetts. So I had to ask her to renew my prescription to minoxidil from a previous doctor because I had just moved to the area. But she didn't really help at all. It was, if you're fine in every other way, if something else is wrong with you, go talk to your family practitioner or your cardiologist or another doctor because the stress from those other conditions is what's making your hair fall out. It was not helpful.

The provider part of the visit felt super rushed, I had a few inquiries and each of them were resolved while moving on to the next one, to the point that we ended up not doing the body skin check that was discussed at the beginning of the appointment as part of the first visit and establishing care. Although very nice and polite, impersonal and, on a hurry which is not at all helpful when someone is not a good self advocate.

VISIT EXPRESS [redacted] Dr. Fan Di Xia, MD was quick, came into the room talking to patients coming out of the next room, looked at the cyst and prescribed antibiotics for 15 days, while telling me to try to stay out of the sun for the duration... etc etc. I barely had time to tell him that I did not want 15 days of antibiotics, I asked him if there was any ointment, and as I was walking out the door he said ok, let it be ointment, the nurse will come to give you the prescription. With that said, she left immediately. It was a super "Express" visit. It was not pleasant. I had the feeling of being in a factory where only the "production" counts, the patients visited in this case.

I felt like my visit was very robotic to the doctor. There was little "does this make sense?", "what do you think about this", etc. I think the knowledge was there but responses were matter of fact and not really a helpfulness to understand or provide awareness to what changes I should be looking out for.

Dr. Fax XIA is a wonderful Doctor Dr. Xia is helpful, and does a wonderful job doing all the Dermatology activities. She cares about her Patients and makes you feel comfortable. This is very important to the Patients. I am lucky to have Dr. Fax Xia as my Doctor. MGH is great! I have been at MGH for 30 years!

Dr. Xia is much more thorough than any other provider I have had in dermatology over the last 15 years. I am very grateful to have her as my doctor, especially as I am at high risk for skin cancer. I feel confident that she takes her work very seriously and very much appreciate that she takes the time to be extra careful. She has a good sense of humor, is personable and caring.
