Eriberto Michel, MD, is an adult cardiac surgeon at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a member of the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center. His practice focuses on thoracic organ failure, lung transplantation, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and adult cardiac surgery.
Dr. Michel received his medical degree (MD) from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Northwestern University. He then went on to complete a Thoracic Transplant Surgery fellowship at Duke University.
Dr. Michel's research interests include clinical outcomes in heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, health equity, and healthcare equality.

He explained my situation and asked if there were any questions I needed answered. He presented photos of my aneurysms, and then explained every aspect of my pending surgery in clear terms. Offered me sound options and proper recommendations for that which he knew would give me the best quality of life. Communicated with my gastroenterologist, and cardiologist; and within an hour, he brought in a surgical cardiologist for further surgical examinations! Dr. Michel made me feel very secure and at ease.
