I've always found Dr. Davies to be more than helpful as far as sharing her knowledge and experience with me and explaining things to me so that I could feel more comfortable with what was going on. In another situation, I had she was working with a second doctor who she didn't know, but made sure that I was able to have the proper information so that I could pass it on to him and I appreciated that.

This was my first visit with Dr Davies. I went in for a consult on cataract surgery. First, I was very impressed with her team who worked together flawlessly to take all of the tests. They were all warm, friendly and helpful. They worked together well to quickly take the tests needed. I want to also say how impressed I am with the level of Technology being used for my eye exam. I know for sure this level of Technology is not available in many eye doctors offices around the country. I was very impressed with this state of the art technology. After the tests I met with Dr Davies who was also very open and friendly. We discussed the results of the test and the upcoming eye surgery I would need in great detail. I had questions which she answered in detail. This put me at great ease. I have been hesitant to have this cataract surgery for a few years but having gone through this consult I have great confidence in Dr Davies and her team that all will go well.

I have severe dry eye and I was not pleased that this provider who is a corneal specialist did not schedule a follow-up appointment for me but had me just be followed by my regular ophthalmologist [redacted]. And I have a lot of problems with my eyes. I have retinal problems, corneal problems, and I did not appreciate that I did not have a follow-up with her because she's the one who prescribes my corneal medicines. And for that reason, I was not pleased with our meeting. Thank you. Goodbye.

I have a very serious vison issue. There was a lack of compassion or consideration for taking care of the one eye with vision . Doctor didn't even look at me, just looked at the computer as she s spoke and entered notes. I sensed an apathy and rushed out like a fast food order.

From start to finish the cataract surgery was excellent care. I was nervous but everyone including the front desk and the staff who showed me parking validation, the preop nurses, even the parking attendant afterwards who was there for our ticket. I am impressed that the kind attitude was pervasive on all phases of my procedure and follow up visits. How can anyone not feel good when given a warmed blanket in preop and then offered a second one if I needed it. Thanks and happy holidays to all the staff.

Dr. Emma Davies is always extremely compassionate, thoughtful, and intentional about not only the care that she gives me and how she shows up in the appointment, but also the implications, you know, in how the care will impact me at home. And so how I will deal with navigating the different prescriptions. She'll make it a point to write out and print out my prescription instructions. She always has such a kindness to her when she enters the room. She takes time to explain everything. I never feel rushed when I'm in her care and I'm just extremely, extremely thankful for her.

My provider is an excellent doctor, I believe. However, she's not really good at communicating with patients, I don't think. When I ask a question, she does answer my question, but not in details. She never expands her question. So I sometimes feel frustrated by her response.

I want to clarify that I liked the doctor and she was very nice and no doubt qualified in her field. She seemed rushed and I thought she just left the room for a minute and she was off to another patient - without a goodbye. Didn't know we were done. I needed a bit more conversation because she was telling me something different than a trust doctor of 30 years had told me. She seemed as if she didn't believe some of what I was telling her or the diagnosis i had been given and now it has me doubting who to believe. I felt rushed and couldn't keep up with the whirlwind. I didn't feel clear when I left about what i was treating and the prescriptions. [redacted] I'm not sure I felt heard.

Dr Davies is the best

I was disappointed in the care, it was below my expectations for Mass Eye and Ear. I was supposed to have a diagnostic dry eye test before seeing the doctor, they neglected to give it to me. So although I waited an hour to see the doctor she had to estimate what the severity of my dry eye condition without this test. The doctor is obviously quite knowledgeable, and was friendly, but I felt railroaded into whatever is the standard protocol for dry eye care without sufficient explanation if there were other options, of outcomes, or of side effects of the two new prescription medications she prescribed. I was prescribed an antibiotic -- it seems in perpetuity -- there is no end date, and she did not say how long she expected me to take it. I understand there are certainly more serious cases in the clinic, and doctors are very pressed for time but I was not even asked if I had questions or concerns, nor was there any discussion of the treatment plan. It was just presented to me -- this is what you are going to do -- and when I hesitated with my questions starting to form in my mind, she was basically like, do you want this, or not with a sense of that she had no time to spend discussing it with me. As I said before, I was very disappointed and though she may be very skilled and not unfriendly, I felt like I was on a conveyor belt and did just had to get to the next patient.

Excellent care

The two receptionists I interacted with at the Longwood location were not very friendly nor helpful. My appointment was on a Friday near the end of the work day. I checked in 20 min late after driving 2hrs from Cape Cod (getting lost in heavy traffic). I apologized and was told in a unwelcoming tone, I had just made it before being "penalized" without explanation. After my appointment, I stood in front of the check out area to schedule my next appointment. One of the receptionists was sipping soda. When the other receptionist got off the phone she called me over. When I asked that my next appointment be scheduled at ME&E on Charles St (which I discussed with my doctor), I was handed a business card and told to call on Monday to make my appointment.

I feel like she either has too many patients and is already tired by the time it's my turn, or she doesn't listen well. I tell her about my situation, and she comes up with a completely different answer that has nothing to do with what I asked her. She rushes me through the process, which makes me tense because I don't feel well cared for. [redacted]

Um, I was told that it was an allergy. I had an adverse effect to the drops, but I just thought that was kind of vague and I wasn't sure that, you know, and I'm going to see her in one year. And that just seemed like a long time. And it just seemed like, I still don't know what caused the problem with the eye, but anyways, overall I was satisfied. And I think she's very competent as a surgeon, but I just thought I had an adverse effect. I think it's from the medicine, but.
