I have to wait two months for hernia repair surgery with Dr. Berger. I can wait that long. (although it is unpleasant), and I will wait that long (Dr. Berger is THE BEST!... this is not going to be my first surgery with him). However, it's indicative that Massachusetts General is not doing its job in adequately staffing areas of the hospital. It shows up in surgery; however, it shows up even more dramatically in Internal Medicine/primary care. Massachusetts General is doing a totally unacceptable job in addressing that years-old staffing issue!

Dr Berger is an amazing physician. He is incredibly smart and professional yet comforting and reassuring at the same time. He is straightforward and clear without wasting your time talking about issues that aren't relevant at that time. I have been an OR and clinic RN for 30 years and currently work as a patient experience specialist. He is a rare find and anyone who is fortunate enough to have found Dr. Berger should be full of gratitude. I would highly recommend him without reservation.

I appreciated the fact that my appointment was on time, that all the staff and the doctor were pleasant, personable and helpful. I liked that Dr. David Berger introduced himself with his first name. As an older person, I often call physicians by their first names, but this is one of the few times when someone as offered it at the beginning of the appointment/relationship. I also appreciated David's sense of humor and lightness in discussing a surgery that is neither major nor life threatening.

Dr. Berger was wonderful. It was obvious he had read my entire history. He knew why I was there and what has been going on. He sat directly in front of me and made eye contact. He was so kind and so gentle. He could not have been more reassuring.

Everyone was absolutely perfect. They listened to all my questions. They explained everything that's going to be done. I couldn't ask for a better doctors and I was so happy that I got referred from one of his patients.

Dr. D.Berger is my favorite surgeon. He saved my life in 2008 performing a brilliant surgery for my stage 3 colon cancer, completely curing me from it. He is always caring, attentive, extremely knowledgeable and skilled, open. I trust him with decisions about my health care 100 percent. Cannot say enough good words about this excellent doctor!

Dr. Berger was excellent. We discussed my hernia situation, and given other UTI issues, he decided not to recommend doing a hernia operation at this time, utilizing the mesh method. Dr. Berger's resident physician who was there, she was terrific, and she was very thorough in evaluating things, so a positive experience.

Dr. Berger was very personable but when I asked a question about the procedure whether he was going to use mesh, he just said "I am going to use stitches, no mesh". I am mad at myself for not pursuing the issue with the doctor regarding the benefit of the use of stitches to the benefit of mesh. I trust that the doctor is an excellent surgeon & I trust is judgement, but I just wish he took a little more time explaining the pros & cons of the way the surgery will be done.

I viewed the care provider as patience. He was clear of what is expected. He was also reassuring. Much appreciated

I felt that Dr. Berger, and his staff, are the most competent people to handle my condition.

Consultation and exam was very brief(apprx 5min). However Dr Berger may have reviewed the ultrasound in advance therefore he would have had the key info. He indicated the chances of this hernia becoming a problem are 1 to 3% so I opted out of surgery at this time. He explained that testicular pain is not necessarily in the testicle but nerves can extend from site of hernia to testicle. I was impressed that Dr. Berger communicated with Dr. [redacted] (PCP) and thanked him for the referral. While brief, I enjoyed the session with Dr. Berger and follow-up notes.

every member of the surgical team were extremely professional. They were concerned about the cyst on my back, in what was supposed to be just an evaluation, a decision was immediately made by Dr. Berger to lance the cyst and remove it immediately. [redacted] they took the time to inject small amounts to numb it before they put in the required amount. everyone was concerned about my situation and we're extremely apologetic when at times it hurt. Clear instructions were provided to me about what needed to be done when I got home and I passed them on to my wife who had no experience in dealing with open wounds, but I must admit she did a great job cleaning out the wound over the last three days.
