About Christina L Costantino

Dr. Christina Costantino is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Thoracic Surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Costantino brings a patient-centered approach to her clinical practice, specializing in all benign and malignant disease of the chest. She has specific interests in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, tracheal conditions, and esophageal diseases. She is a fellowship-trained Robotic Surgeon and has a specific interest in minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Costantino received her BA from Princeton University and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, where she received the Repici Award in General Surgery. She completed her General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. During her fellowship, she completed additional oncologic surgical training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Costantino has published multiple papers in high-impact journals and has presented at national and international conferences. She holds various leadership positions on academic committees and is invested in educational endeavors to mentor and train the next generation of thoracic surgeons nationally.

Her research interests are broad and include studying the molecular and genetic pathways that underlie the development of thoracic tumors, innovation in robotic surgery, and the pathophysiology and surgical treatment of subglottic stenosis and other airway disease. Her current research involves studying the molecular and immunologic profiles of early-stage lung cancer and the gender differences that exist in the development of thoracic disease.

Dr. Costantino delivers compassionate, individualized care to her patients and is committed to advancing the field of thoracic surgery through clinical excellence and innovative research and surgical techniques. She sees patients at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Newton Wellesley Hospital.

    Dr. Costantino treats me like I am the only patient she has. She's concerned with how my recovery is improving and takes the time to address and explain the images of my CT SCANS and their results.
