Benjamin H Kann, MD, PhD

Dr. Benjamin Kann is a radiation oncologist at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, specializing in the treatment of lung and thoracic malignancies. He provides comprehensive radiation therapy for patients with non-small cell and small cell lung cancer, thymic tumors, oligometastatic disease, and other cancers of the chest, with expertise in advanced techniques including stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and image-guided treatment planning. He works within a multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team to deliver individualized, evidence-based care.

Dr. Kann also leads a research program applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to oncology. His work focuses on developing and validating deep learning models that extract clinically meaningful information from medical imaging to improve diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment personalization in lung, head and neck, and central nervous system cancers. A central aim of his research is translating these tools from retrospective validation into prospective clinical use, so that AI meaningfully improves outcomes and access for cancer patients.
