Dr. Vora has a longstanding interest in the philosophical and cultural dimensions of medicine. Her undergraduate training at Wesleyan University was devoted heavily to social science research. At the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, she obtained funding to investigate the existential, social and functional domains in quality of life in a multiethnic community of ambulatory elders. This work received two prestigious awards for excellence: The Humanism in Medicine award and the Distinction in Research Award. During her postgraduate training at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residence program at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and as a faculty member in the same department, she has studied the Indian (Ayurvedic) and Chinese medical systems in depth. She has presented work related to quality of life assessment, cross-cultural medicine, and integrative medicine at numerous national and international conferences.
Her current clinical interests center around musculoskeletal and sports medicine, care of the recreational athlete and performer, and integrative medicine. Her clinical practice includes prolotherapy, including musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided autologous platelet-rich plasma injections for musculoskeletal injuries. She is leading a research study on this innovative technique thought to stimulate the body's innate healing response.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple clinical teams, she works on the clinical and institutional level to develop wellness awareness using the comprehensive rehabilitation model. She is also working to develop an international cross-cultural medicine initiative.
