Anoop Krishna Prasad, MD, PhD

Dr. Anoop Prasad is a fellowship-trained hip and knee arthroplasty surgeon specializing in primary, complex primary and revision joint replacement. His clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive and robotic hip, knee and partial knee replacement, including the direct anterior approach for total hip arthroplasty.

Dr. Prasad completed his surgical residency on the Percivall Pott Rotation in London, United Kingdom, the oldest orthopaedic residency training program in the UK. He earned a PhD from Imperial College London and is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Orth).

Following this, he undertook advanced subspecialty training in adult reconstructive surgery on the Harvard Arthroplasty Fellowship Program, with a focus on hip and knee arthroplasty, including the use of advanced technologies and robotic-assisted surgery.

He was subsequently appointed as an Arthroplasty Attending at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, a major teaching hospital of Imperial College London, where he developed a specialist practice in primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He received dedicated training in the direct anterior approach for total hip arthroplasty from leading surgeons in the United States and Europe.

He is actively involved in the training of residents, fellows and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. His current areas of research focus are the use of artificial intelligence in determining outcomes following surgery, the analysis of patient gait (walking) to allow for truly personalised surgery and factors that lead to optimal outcomes in total knee arthroplasty.

Dr. Prasad was invited to return to join the faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital and joined the department in January 2026.
