Anisha Unmesh Gundewar, MD, MPH

Anisha Gundewar, MD, MPH, is a pediatric gastroenterologist in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Mass General Brigham for Children. Dr. Gundewar received her Bachelor of Arts in Health, Behavior and Society and her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Rochester, after which she completed a Fulbright-Nehru scholarship in Mumbai, India. 

She is a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her residency in pediatrics and her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Mass General Brigham for Children. She also concurrently completed the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship and a Master of Public Health in clinical effectiveness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. 

Dr. Gundewar sees patients in general gastroenterology, with particular interest in nutrition and feeding disorders and in obesity management. She is a qualified Spanish-speaking provider. Her research addresses food security and childhood obesity. She works with the Greater Boston Food Bank on its annual statewide food access survey, which characterizes food and nutrition insecurity across Massachusetts and informs food assistance policy. She also studies how obesity treatment can be delivered equitably in primary care settings.
