Diabetes care is particularly tricky, in my opinion, because it is so easy for practitioners to be condescending or even downright insulting to those of us who don't manage to lose weight and constantly bring our A1c down. Dr. Cohen is so supportive and she is even intelligent and sensitive enough not to OVER-celebrate the successes, such as the fact that my A1c tested lower than it has in several years. This is to be commended: I know people who avoid seeing their doctors for fear of disappointing them after being praised for being a "good" patient. There is so much implicit judgement in medical care, Dr. Cohen represents the best of medical expertise combined with emotional intelligence and empathy.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Cohen, since my previous doctor left MGH. She went through her expectations first, then listened to all of my questions. Everything she said made sense to me. I felt like she heard me, and I was so thankful for that!

Dr. Cohen spends the least amount of time she can, barely physically examines, and just orders test. When I question her about it, she suggests I find another practitioner
