Deborah T Hung, MD, PhD

Dr. Deborah T. Hung is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). She is also an associate professor of microbiology and immunobiology at Harvard Medical School (HMS).

She received her medical degree from HMS. She then completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowships in infectious disease and pulmonary disease at BWH. She is board certified in critical care medicine and infectious disease.

The author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Hung runs a laboratory at HMS where she combines genomic and chemical approaches to identify host-pathogen interactions and the key pressure points of infectious disease, with the goal of discovering new therapeutic prospects. She has received numerous research grants from the National Institutes of Health and serves on the Scientific Steering Committee of the New England Regional Center for Excellence in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases. Dr. Hung is the recipient of a number of awards, including the American Society for Microbiology Merck Irving S. Sigal Memorial Award, the Pew Scholars Award in the Biomedical Sciences and the Doris Duke Foundation Clinical Scientist Development Award.
